Release 285a
This is the first release that supports Macintosh OSX. It also adds to the Mac version the student file creation functions that already exist in the Windows version. (Look for an icon names "-Setup" and click on it). It also adds several diffent types of reports.

Release 2.84f
284f fixes a bug, allowing proper resizing of sort cards when resizing the window under Window 2000. In previous releases the cards eventually lost their correct sizes when the Window was resized.

Release 2.84e

A  user has pointed out that the font used on printed word cards is confusing to beginning readers, the small case "L" looking like a character "1" etc. The font has been changed to Arial.

Release 2.84d

284d is a bug fix. It fixes a bug that can cause a crash if the user hits the escape key when dragging one of the cards. It also fixes a number of other minor, nonharmful, bugs.

Release 2.84c

284c adds the ability to reset the "Next" sort . In other words, when you choose the :Do Next Sort" option on the menu  you will see a button labeled "Reposition" which when clicked will let you select a new current sort. Use it to move students forward or backward in the sequnce of sorts.

Release 2.84b
284b fixes a bug that was causing some printing problems with picture cards on HP printers. The bug is actually in HP's printer drivers but this makes up for it. 2.84b also adds sound to WordSort. There are now button click sounds and sliding sounds. If you find these sounds annoying, I hope that you don't, you can turn them off by pressing the "F4" key at anytime.

Release 2.84a

The word sorting cards now have larger characters. This is a minor change but is something that should have been done a long time ago. It makes sorting much easier. The Mac version is in native PPC, which should make it run better on the new machines.

Release 2.83a
2.83a adds browsing for student files. You can now run WordSort as a stand-alone program, (by clicking on the program icon itself) and WordSort will run, allowing you to browse for the student file using a standard file open dialog. You can still run WordSort by clicking on student files as before.  Schools running security software will no longer need to allow access to specific folders through the desktop. All that is needed is to allow access to the WordSort application. Students can browse for their student files from there. With the Windows version there is also an icon in the Start Menu for running WordSort with browsing.
Another added feature is that in the Windows student setup you can now browse for the output folder with a standard Windows dialog.

Release 2.82b
2.82b adds a color scheme that is compatible with low-grade monitors.

Release 2.82a
2.82a contains a number of cosmetic changes, including 3 new color schemes. It also fixes a  in the previous version that could cause a failure when you tried to select a new sort from the scrolling list box.. If you have seen this error, (or even if you haven't) then you need this new release.

Release 2.81h
2.81h is primarily a bug-fix for the Mac version correcting problems running WordSort on I,Macs and perhaps other newer Macs. There are minor changes that affect both the Windows and the Mac interface.

Release 2.81g
2.81g provides a new student setup. Now there is only one icon in Start\Program\wordsort. You choose the Study that you want to assign from within Setup. Before installing this version you should remove the old version of WordSort that you are now running. Use "Add/remove Programs" found in the Control Panel. This release is compatible with previous 2.81 releases.

Release 2.81e
2.81e fixes a bug that can cause WordSort to crash when the user tries to drag a card over the buttons on the right side of the screen.

Release 2.81d
2.81d improves the caching of pictures, which helps the sorts start more quickly, particularly on the Mac version.

Release 2.81c
2.81c adds another sorting mode in which the user is nether timed nor graded. This really is just a way for the student to familiarize themselves with the words or pictures in a informal setting, duplicating the setting that they encounter when using real cards.  The student is free to move the cards around the screen and discover patterns without pressure. 2.81 also uses a variety of mouse cursors which make it easier to see what you are allowed to do where.
Another small item; the numbers on the lower right corner of the printed cards indicating the group where the cards should go has been removed. The original idea was that this corner could be cut off or folded over if not wanted. However teachers seem to think that they create more problems than they are worth, so they are out.
2.81 also will install on Windows NT and Windows 2000. There has been a problem in our InstallShield installation setup lately that we were not aware of which prevented the installation from completing on NT and 2000. This problem is now fixed.
